Job Summary
Our client is seeking a P&ID Drafter to join a dedicated migration team responsible for converting existing AutoCAD P&ID drawings into SmartPlant P&ID. This role ensures data integrity, symbol consistency, and compliance with project and client standards throughout the migration process. The ideal candidate has AutoCAD experience and is eager to develop SmartPlant expertise in a structured project environment.
Job Description
Convert legacy AutoCAD P&ID drawings into SmartPlant P&ID using established migration workflows and templates
Accurately recreate process lines, instrumentation, equipment, and annotations within the SmartPlant intelligent database environment
Perform quality checks on converted drawings to verify completeness, accuracy, and consistency against source documents
Incorporate redline markups and engineer comments during the conversion process
Maintain drawing logs and support document control throughout the migration
Coordinate with senior drafters and the migration lead to resolve symbol mapping conflicts or data gaps
Follow project standards for tag naming, line numbering, and instrumentation classification

0–2 years of P&ID drafting experience using AutoCAD
Exposure to SmartPlant P&ID preferred; willingness to train on the platform is required
Exposure to P&ID symbols, instrumentation notation, and line conventions (ISA 5.1)
High attention to detail; migration work demands accuracy over speed.
Ability to work from source drawings independently while flagging discrepancies for engineering review
Any hands-on SmartPlant P&ID experience, even academic or self-taught, is a plus.
Background in oil & gas, refining, or chemical processing environments is a plus
Basic CAD Skills preferred
Education/Training/Certifications
An Associate's degree or in the process of obtaining one or a certificate in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent vocational/trade training
