Junior Network Engineer

North Wales / Montgomeryville, PA (Hybrid)

$20-$23/hr W2 | Long-Term Contract, Potential for Conversion

Piper Companies is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support a leading healthcare organization in the Greater Philadelphia area. This position is ideal for an early-career networking professional looking to gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure projects across multiple healthcare facilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior network engineers on network builds, upgrades, refresh initiatives, and day-to-day project activities. This role requires a strong networking foundation, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to perform hands-on installation and deployment work in data center and healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise network deployment, upgrade, and refresh projects across multiple healthcare locations
  • Perform hands-on installation, configuration, and "rack and stack" activities for network hardware
  • Assist with deployment and maintenance of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and voice network infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, hardware, and infrastructure issues
  • Support network equipment installations including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless devices
  • Work with senior engineers to implement network changes and project deliverables
  • Assist with network documentation, project tracking, and audit requirements
  • Participate in network testing, validation, and post-installation support activities
  • Follow organizational standards, policies, and project methodologies
  • Provide on-site support for infrastructure initiatives and technology rollouts

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of Network Engineering, Network Support, Infrastructure Support, or related IT experience

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and TCP/IP concepts

  • Experience working with network switches, routers, and firewalls

  • Knowledge of routing and switching concepts

  • Familiarity with dynamic routing protocols including:

  • BGP (required)

  • OSPF (required)

  • EIGRP (preferred)

  • Experience with network troubleshooting and hardware installations

  • Ability to read and understand network diagrams and documentation

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA certification or active pursuit of CCNA
  • Experience supporting Cisco, Extreme Networks, or similar enterprise networking environments
  • Exposure to Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience with wireless networking technologies
  • Experience supporting infrastructure projects or technology deployments
  • Healthcare IT experience is a plus
