About the Opportunity
The City of Salem seeks a customer-focused Jr. Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to fill a Limited Duration position (LD). The assignment is anticipated to last twelve (12) months from the date of hire. This recruitment will also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be considered for selection of additional (LD) vacancies of the same position type over the next six (6) months.
What you will do:
The Human Resources Division, operating within the Enterprise Services Department, plays a vital role across multiple facets of the City's operations. Our responsibilities encompass Benefits Administration, Employee and Labor Relations, Compensation, Classification Reviews, Performance Management, Recruitment, and Selection. Additionally, we provide support to six collective bargaining units within the City.
The Jr. Human Resources Business Partner provides a wide range of human resources consultative and technical assistance to all City departments and employees. Employees in this classification are responsible for administering assigned element(s) of the Citys human resources program including, recruitment and selection of employees, development and maintenance of the classification and compensation system, performance management, design and analysis of salary surveys, organizational development analysis, training, employee relations, and labor relations.
The Jr. Human Resources Business Partner, is filled under the Management Analyst II classification and is distinguished from the Sr. Human Resources Business Partner by the nature and complexity of the work assignments, as well as the cumulative volume of employees each support. The work performed by the Sr. HR Business partner performed can be more complex and challenging in terms of scope and impact than the Jr. position.
