    Description

    Junior Geologist - Mercur Project (Revival Gold)

    The Junior Geologist supports exploration, resource definition, and mine development activities at the Mercur Project through accurate geological data collection, logging, sampling, mapping, database/QAQC support, and clear technical reporting while working to Revival Gold's safety and environmental standards.

    Key responsibilities

    • Assist with drill core and/or RC chip logging (lithology, alteration, mineralization, structure) and ensure consistent geological coding.
    • Coordinate and conduct sampling (core cutting, chip sampling), sample preparation instructions, chain-of-custody, and shipment to laboratories.
    • Implement and track QA/QC programs (standards, blanks, duplicates) and flag potential data issues for follow-up.
    • Support geologic mapping, soil/rock sampling, and field reconnaissance; compile observations in a timely manner.
    • Maintain accurate records: daily field notes, drill logs, sample registers, photo logs, and location data.
    • Assist with database entry/validation and data exports (e.g., collar, survey, assays, geology) under supervision of senior staff.
    • Prepare figures, sections, and basic interpretations in GIS and/or 3D software as required.
    • Contribute to weekly/monthly progress updates and short technical memoranda.
    • Work collaboratively with contractors (drilling, survey, environmental, geotech) to meet project schedules.
    • Follow all site safety, environmental, and cultural/land access requirements; participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments.

    Required qualifications

    • B.S. in Geology or Geological Engineering (or closely related field).
    • 0-3 years of relevant experience (internships/co-ops or field-based experience acceptable).
    • Fundamental understanding of ore deposit geology, sampling practices, and basic QA/QC concepts.
    • Ability to work safely in an active field environment and follow site procedures.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); comfort working with datasets.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to operate 4×4 vehicles on unpaved roads.
    • Ability to lift up to >50 lbs (not required for this position but would help) and work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and timely follow through.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience with Carlin-type or sediment-hosted gold systems and/or oxide gold projects.
    • Working knowledge of GIS (e.g., ArcGIS/QGIS) and basic 3D modeling/visualization tools (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan) is an asset.
    • Experience managing sample shipments and lab communications.
    • First Aid/CPR certification and/or MSHA training (or ability to obtain).

    Reporting relationships

    Reports to the Project/Senior Geologist (or Exploration Manager, as assigned). Works closely with other geology staff, field technicians, drill contractors, surveyors, and environmental/safety personnel.

    Work conditions

    Primarily field-based with time split between core shed, drill sites, and office tasks. Schedule may include extended hours and rotational work depending on drilling/field programs. Travel to and within the project area is required. Must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and in remote/outdoor conditions.
