A well-established retail organization is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Copywriter to support product content for its e-commerce website. This position will write, edit, proofread, and publish product copy while maintaining the company’s brand voice, editorial standards, and content guidelines.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can translate product information, merchant terminology, and fashion trends into clear, engaging, and customer-friendly content. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career writer interested in retail, fashion, e-commerce, or digital content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clear and engaging product names, descriptions, features, and supporting website content.
  • Enter, edit, and maintain product copy within a content management system.
  • Translate vendor and merchant information into concise, consumer-friendly language.
  • Apply the organization’s brand voice, style guide, and content-standardization requirements.
  • Proofread and audit product content for grammar, spelling, clarity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Identify inaccurate, conflicting, or missing product information and coordinate corrections with the appropriate teams.
  • Confirm that website content meets established editorial, quality, brand, and industry standards.
  • Prioritize assignments and make prompt content updates to meet product-launch deadlines.
  • Partner with merchandising, digital, creative, product, and vendor teams to obtain complete product details.
  • Review the website regularly to identify and correct copy errors or inconsistencies.
  • Research competitor websites, retail terminology, and industry trends to support content improvements.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining product-copy standards and category-specific style guidelines.
  • Help improve the customer shopping experience by ensuring product information is accurate, helpful, and easy to understand.

Qualifications

  • Previous copywriting, editing, proofreading, digital content, retail, or e-commerce experience preferred.
  • Up to two years of retail experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, grammar, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with retail, fashion, product, or consumer-focused terminology.
  • Ability to follow established brand standards, instructions, and style guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating content-related questions clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related business applications.
  • Experience working within a content management system is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML is helpful but not required.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
