An established Florida general contractor with more than 30 years of experience is hiring a Junior Construction Estimator to learn and support quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bids, and proposals for commercial construction projects.

Previous estimating experience is preferred but not required. This opportunity is open to recent graduates and early-career candidates with education or experience in engineering, construction, drafting, project coordination, or another technical construction field.

Candidates from commercial or residential construction will be considered. Direct experience with concrete restoration, stucco, waterproofing, coatings, or commercial painting is a plus but not required. Training will be provided.

What You’ll Learn and Do

• Review construction drawings, specifications, bid invitations, and project requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for concrete, stucco, waterproofing, coatings, painting, and related construction work.
• Calculate square footage, linear footage, cubic footage, material quantities, and individual repair locations.
• Assist with estimating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, access, protection, mobilization, and disposal costs.
• Request, organize, and compare pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist with preparing bids, proposals, clarifications, and supporting documentation.
• Track bid deadlines, addenda, revisions, and project information.
• Coordinate with estimators and project managers during project turnover.
• Maintain accurate and organized estimating records.

What We’re Looking For

• Education or practical experience in engineering, construction, drafting, project coordination, or a related technical field.
• Ability to read—or the technical foundation to learn to read—construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
• Clear professional communication and the confidence to follow up with suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
• Any experience with quantity takeoffs, estimating, bidding, measurements, pricing, or construction plans is a plus.
• Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff software is preferred but not required.
• Architectural or drafting candidates will be considered when their background includes plan reading, measurements, quantities, takeoffs, or construction-cost exposure.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated to develop a career in construction estimating.
