The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) is the central IT agency for the City of Philadelphia headed by the Chief Information Officer (CIO). OIT oversees all major information and communications technology initiatives for the City of Philadelphia - increasing the effectiveness of the information technology infrastructure, where the services provided are advanced, optimized, and responsive to the needs of the City of Philadelphia's businesses, residents, and visitors. OIT responsibilities include: identifying the most effective approach for implementing new information technology directions throughout city government; improving the value of the city's technology assets and the return on the city's technology investments; ensuring data security continuity; planning for continuing operations in the event of disruption of information technology or communications services; and supporting accountable, efficient and effective government across every city department, board, commission and agency.

Do you want to be at the forefront of CoP's emerging cloud practice? We are seeking a junior engineer to support and expand our Cloud computing environment that has already provided great value to the City of Philadelphia by enabling modernization and optimization strategies. An ideal candidate is expected to operate independently, have a results-oriented mindset, and foster an environment of continuous improvement. A Cloud Engineer must possess strong interpersonal skills and regularly work with IT leaders and engineers in other departments.
This is primarily a cloud administration position focused on a hybrid cloud/on-premises environment across AWS GovCloud and Standard (Commercial) Cloud organizations. An ideal candidate will have a background in AWS, either professionally or managing their own accounts, and a solid basis in programming skills (ideally, Python). Although there is overlap with the skills and competencies associated with a DevOps role, this is not a DevOps role.

IAM and security in the Cloud;
