Pay Rate: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE)
The Opportunity
A well-established, full-service land surveying firm is seeking an experienced CADD / Survey Technician to join its SFL team.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong survey professional who can take raw field data and transform it into accurate, professional survey plats, maps, CAD files, and project deliverables.
The successful candidate will support a diverse range of projects, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, utility route surveys, construction staking, and other specialized surveying assignments.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the full survey project lifecycle, can work independently with minimal supervision, and is comfortable managing demanding project scopes and schedules while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality.
What You'll Do
CADD & Survey Production
Prepare accurate and professional survey plats, maps, and drawings
Produce deliverables for:
Boundary Surveys
As-Built Surveys
Topographic Surveys
Utility Route Surveys
Construction Surveying
Other land surveying projects as required
Process and analyze data collected by field survey crews
Prepare and maintain accurate CAD files and project documentation
Perform construction staking calculations
Ensure deliverables meet project specifications and applicable agency requirements
Manage demanding project scopes and schedules while maintaining quality and accuracy
Project & Technical Responsibilities
Manage individual survey projects or assigned project components from data processing through final deliverables
Conduct courthouse and public records research related to property and boundary surveys
Research and evaluate deeds, plats, easements, legal descriptions, and other property information
Coordinate with field crews to clarify survey data and resolve discrepancies
Apply sound surveying principles to interpret and process field information
Work with minimal supervision while effectively managing priorities and deadlines
Support occasional field assignments as project needs require

Prepare survey deliverables that meet the requirements and standards of various government agencies and clients, potentially including:
State transportation agencies
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
NAVFAC
Other federal, state, and local agencies

Carlson Survey
AutoCAD Civil 3D
MicroStation
GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads
The ideal candidate is highly proficient in core CADD and surveying platforms and can quickly adapt to project-specific workflows and client requirements.
What You'll Bring
Strong understanding of land surveying principles and practices
Ability to interpret and process survey field data
Experience preparing professional survey plats and mapping deliverables
Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, as-built, and utility surveying
Experience performing survey-related and construction staking calculations
Experience conducting courthouse and property research
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with survey field crews and office teams
Qualifications
3+ years of surveying-related experience
Strong CADD and survey production background
Proficiency with Carlson and AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads
A Surveying, CADD, or related degree from an accredited college, vocational/technical school, or military training program may substitute for up to two years of required experience
Valid driver's license required
Ability to perform occasional field work as needed
