Junior Associate (Electrical Practice)

Oblon, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt LLP (“Oblon”) seeks a Junior Associate with to join its Electrical Patent Prosecution Practice Group on-site in its Alexandria, Virginia office (hybrid role; in-office presence at least 3 days per week). A technical background is required in the following area(s): electrical engineering; systems engineering; software engineering, computer science, electronics, engineering technology, and/or physics.

The candidate will serve in the analysis and preparation of replies to office actions and amendments; invention and disclosure meetings/calls with clients; preparation of new patent applications; preparation and prosecution of design applications; study of patents and prosecution history files in support of opinions of non-infringement or invalidity; technology licensing agreements and related transactions; and support of litigation, administrative reviews, petitions and appeals.  Qualified candidates must possess a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and be licensed to practice in a state bar and before the USPTO.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated track record of academic achievement and superior writing and interpersonal skills to assist Firm clients in securing patent protection for complex technologies and providing strategic intellectual property counseling to its clients.

The salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 - $90,000. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and experience.
