The Junior Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, assisting with general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable activities, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
- Process and verify accounts payable invoices and employee expense reports.
- Assist with accounts receivable, customer billing, and cash application activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Help prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Track project-related expenses and provide support for production accounting activities.
- Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset accounting.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with production, operations, and administrative teams on accounting-related inquiries.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 0-2 years of accounting experience, including internships.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis functions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Preferred
- Experience or internship within media, entertainment, advertising, production, or creative industries.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Exposure to production accounting or project-based accounting environments.
- CPA candidate or interest in pursuing professional accounting certification.
