Journeyman Service Technician – Union Electrician (IBEW)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician – Union Electrician affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and/or residential environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong diagnostic skills, professionalism with clients, and the ability to work independently while upholding union standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment
- Install, maintain, and service panels, breakers, transformers, lighting systems, and controls
- Perform service upgrades and code-compliant modifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and OSHA safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and supervisors
- Document service calls, materials used, and work performed
- Respond to emergency service calls as required
Qualifications
- Current membership in good standing with IBEW
- Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
- Valid state electrical license (Journeyman or higher)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and union work standards
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of electrical service experience
- Experience in commercial or industrial service work
- Familiarity with motor controls, VFDs, and low-voltage systems
- Strong customer service skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work at heights and in confined spaces
- Stand, kneel, and climb for extended periods
