Primary Responsibility:
Manufacture and repair special products - build prototypes
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently operate all standard machine tools
- Make mathematical calculations required for setting up and machining any part
- Read drawings, use precision measuring instruments and hand tools
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications
- Assemble and disassemble precision parts and equipment
- Welding ( tig, mig, stick and gas )
- Metal fabrication
- Reverse engineering
- Design and build tooling and fixtures
- Manufacture dies, machine tools, cutting tools, and other tools
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Good mechanical skills
- Good shop math skills
- Basic understanding of hydraulics, electricity, pneumatics, and a familiarization with computer technology.
- Thorough knowledge of metallurgy and heat treating
- Work with minimum supervision
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years journeyman level experience.
Physical requirements
- Able to lift 35 lbs. on occasion
- Stand for extended periods - 2 hour periods
- Some overtime required
