Program: Transition Program - Student Services

Description: This position is pivotal in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the community as they transition from the educational setting to the workforce and independent or supported living as an adult. The primary responsibility is to facilitate the learning of specific job skills, employability skills, work ethic, social awareness, independent living skills, community participation and community mobility with transition-age students. To provide guidance, training, and support to students with disabilities, empowering them to develop essential vocational and life skills and successfully integrate into the professional, community and home living settings. The focus of this support service is to empower students to gain and maintain independence as they transition to adult life.

Staff may need to follow vaccination requirements of Wellspan Hospital (influenza and/or COVID).

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with students learning specific job skills, employability skills, social

awareness, and work ethic with transition-aged students (14-21).

  • Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with adults and students
  • Knowledge of vocational training programs, job placement strategies, and accommodations for individuals

with disabilities

  • Familiarity with social service agencies that support post-secondary needs, such as the Office of

Vocational Rehabilitation & MH-IDD.

  • Ability to recognize and document the employability skills of students and provide appropriate job

matches

  • Knowledge of and competency using basic computer programs such as Google and Microsoft Suites

In addition to the above qualifications, Staff working in this specific location are required to meet one of the following qualifications as well:

  • 2 years' experience in job placement or employment support services, which

may include paid or unpaid experience and may be cumulative;

  • 24 college credit hours;
  • The Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Basic

Employment Certificate or Professional Employment Certificate;

  • The Association for People Supporting Employment First (APSE) Certified

Employment Support Professional credential;

  • The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC);

Terms of Employment: Full-time, 188 days/year (follows traditional school year schedule)

Salary: $20.49/hr, plus excellent benefits
