Java Technical Architect

Position Type: Full-Time / Permanent
Experience Required: 8+ Years
Department: Architecture / Software Engineering

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Architect to lead the design and development of scalable, secure, high-performance enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, databases, DevOps practices, and software design patterns.

The Java Technical Architect will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, business stakeholders, DevOps teams, QA engineers, and enterprise architects to define technical strategy, establish architecture standards, review designs, and guide development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design scalable and maintainable enterprise applications using Java and modern architecture principles.

  • Define technical architecture for Java-based applications, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.

  • Provide architectural guidance to development teams throughout design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Design applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Spring Cloud.

  • Define and implement microservices architecture and service decomposition strategies.

  • Design RESTful APIs and integration patterns for internal and external systems.

  • Review technical requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

  • Create high-level and low-level technical design documents.

  • Define coding standards, architecture guidelines, development best practices, and reusable frameworks.

  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend architectural improvements and modernization strategies.

  • Lead application migration from monolithic systems to microservices and cloud-native architectures.

  • Design solutions for scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, performance, and disaster recovery.

  • Define event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, SNS, or similar messaging technologies.

  • Design database integration strategies for relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Review database models, data-access strategies, caching mechanisms, and performance considerations.

  • Define application security architecture using OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO, RBAC, and related security standards.

  • Ensure applications meet security, performance, reliability, and maintainability standards.

  • Perform code reviews and architecture reviews.

  • Identify technical risks, architectural dependencies, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Troubleshoot complex production and integration issues.

  • Mentor senior developers, technical leads, and engineering teams.

  • Support CI/CD implementation and automated software delivery processes.

  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerization, orchestration, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.

  • Define cloud deployment strategies using AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Participate in technical estimation, solution planning, and architecture governance.

  • Maintain architecture documentation and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of professional software development experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical architect, solution architect, or senior technical leadership role.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Core Java.

  • Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Spring MVC.

  • Extensive experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.

  • Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and enterprise application architecture.

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and software design principles.

  • Experience with design patterns and architectural patterns.

  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Cassandra.

  • Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems.

  • Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Experience with Git and enterprise source-control workflows.

  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Spring Cloud and cloud-native architecture.

  • Experience with Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

  • Knowledge of API Gateway, service discovery, configuration management, and circuit-breaker patterns.

  • Experience with Redis or distributed caching technologies.

  • Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.

  • Knowledge of observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, ELK, or CloudWatch.
