Within Workplace Services Engineering, you'll help shape technology that supports workplace financial solutions and empowers millions of participants to plan, save, invest, and achieve their financial goals.

    As a Software Engineer, Java, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications that support critical business capabilities. Leveraging modern Java technologies, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and AI-enabled development practices, you will collaborate across teams to build secure, scalable, and resilient solutions. Your ability to solve complex technical challenges, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement will directly influence both technology outcomes and client experiences.

    Required Qualifications

    • Demonstrated ability to design and develop enterprise Java applications that deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing business solutions while adhering to architectural standards
    • Demonstrated ability to build RESTful APIs and microservices that enable reliable integration, resiliency, and performance across distributed systems
    • Proven ability to apply system design principles, translating business and architectural requirements into technical solutions, design documentation, and implementation roadmaps
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, communicate technical concepts effectively, and contribute to Agile delivery environments while helping teams achieve shared outcomes
    • Demonstrated ability to identify security risks, champion secure coding practices, and deliver solutions that prioritize reliability, availability, and performance
    • Proven ability to leverage analytical thinking, problem solving, and sound technical judgment to resolve complex engineering challenges and improve software quality

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience building applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern cloud-native development practices to accelerate delivery and improve scalability
    • Experience using CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to improve software quality, deployment reliability, and engineering efficiency
    • Experience with distributed event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ to support highly available solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical initiatives, and promote engineering excellence across cross-functional teams
    • Experience utilizing AI tools and technologies to improve code quality, accelerate development workflows, automate testing, and drive innovation throughout the software development lifecycle
    • Experience with containerization, cloud platforms, monitoring tools, or observability solutions that enhance application performance and operational insights
    • Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular or React and an understanding of full-stack application development
