Java Software Engineer
Summary
Our client is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join a team performing software development assignments. The current focus is on completing annual maintenance on legacy Java applications that utilize complex SQL to leverage metadata. This remote role involves attending daily standups and working independently and collaboratively as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain legacy Java applications using complex SQL and metadata.
- Attend daily standups to report progress and plan for the day.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues within the existing codebase.
- Work with Spring Boot and core Web technologies on application development.
- Collaborate with software engineers on annual maintenance assignments.
Requirements
- Strong coding skills and experience using Java (version 8 or 11).
- Proficiency with core Web technologies: JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Oracle SQL skills.
- Experience with Spring Boot and GitLab.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively using effective communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy code (JSF, JSP, PrimeFaces) using metadata stored in Oracle.
- Experience with test-driven development using Jtest or JUnit.
- Experience with Java Build tools and advanced Excel features.
- Experience working with data in the Finance or Insurance domains.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
This is a 12-month Contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client.
