Job Title: Java Developer

Location: Charlotte, NC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Duration: 12 Months Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Business Hours

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Application Developer to join our client's technology team on a contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading financial services organization focused on modern application development, cloud technologies, and enterprise technology transformation. You will be responsible for understanding business needs, developing and enhancing applications, supporting testing and deployments, and evaluating new technologies through proof-of-concept initiatives.

You will work as part of an Agile team alongside a team lead and may have opportunities for direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements and translate them into effective application solutions.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE technologies.
  • Perform unit testing and ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Provide development support during application testing and troubleshooting.
  • Create proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate new technologies and technical approaches.
  • Support application deployments and contribute to production implementation planning.
  • Develop and maintain applications leveraging cloud and container technologies.
  • Work with technologies such as Spring, Spring Integration, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, NoSQL, and RESTful services.
  • Develop and maintain secure web services and applications using technologies such as WS-Security.
  • Write complex SQL queries using Oracle and/or SQL Server databases.
  • Develop and maintain Unix/Linux scripts for application support and automation.
  • Work with modern UI technologies including Angular and React.
  • Utilize application monitoring and development tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and Autosys.
  • Apply code quality and testing practices using tools such as JUnit, Sonar, and Crucible.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders within an Agile development environment.
  • Participate in application troubleshooting, deployment, and production support activities.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in Java/J2EE application development or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with container and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS, and Azure.
  • Strong expertise in Java/J2EE technologies.
  • Proficiency with Spring and Spring Integration.
  • Experience with Cassandra, Kafka, MQ, NoSQL, and RESTful services.
  • Knowledge of WS-Security and secure application development practices.
  • Hands-on experience with development and monitoring tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Autosys.
  • Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries using Oracle and/or SQL Server.
  • Strong Unix/Linux scripting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Angular and/or React.
  • Experience with code quality and testing tools such as JUnit, Sonar, and Crucible.
  • Experience working within modern Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented development environment and interact with technical and business stakeholders.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $60 – $62 per hour
This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
