We are seeking a highly experienced Java Technical Lead with 10+ years of expertise in Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native development, and enterprise application integration. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Azure, AKS, Drools, Angular, NoSQL/MongoDB, and legacy system modernization.

The candidate will lead a development squad, own solution and integration architecture, drive end-to-end delivery, and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex insurance rating and underwriting requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a development squad through end-to-end delivery, from solution design through deployment.
  • Design and develop scalable distributed systems and microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Define and implement API design, integration, orchestration, and messaging solutions.
  • Own integration architecture involving rating engines, REST APIs, queues, and enterprise systems.
  • Work with Drools/rules engines to extract, translate, transform, and implement complex business rules.
  • Reverse engineer and modernize legacy applications and systems, including mainframe and Smalltalk environments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and implement insurance rating, underwriting, and policy lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions using Client Azure and AKS.
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, resilience, availability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical guidance to developers and enforce coding and architectural standards.
  • Conduct design and code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with frontend teams and provide technical guidance for Angular-based applications.
  • Work with NoSQL databases, MongoDB, and JSON document collections.
  • Mentor and coach developers and promote continuous technical improvement.
  • Coordinate with architects, business analysts, project managers, QA, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Own technical delivery, resolve technical risks, and ensure project commitments are met.

Required Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
  • Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API integration, orchestration, and messaging.
  • Experience with Drools or business rules engines.
  • Experience with rules extraction, translation, transformation, and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of Angular and frontend application architecture.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
  • Experience working with JSON document collections.
  • Strong understanding of application scalability, resilience, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience with legacy application reverse engineering and modernization.

Preferred Domain Experience

  • Experience in the Insurance domain is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of rating, underwriting, and policy lifecycle processes.
  • Experience working with insurance rating engines and related integrations.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements and business rules into technical implementations.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Tech Lead, or Squad Lead.
  • Strong solution design and architecture ownership.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience leading teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach development teams.
  • Strong delivery ownership, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
