About the Role
Join a high-impact Java development team as a Senior Java Developer in Whippany, NJ. Play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing modern, scalable applications using the latest Java technologies. Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of Java-based applications
- Write clean, efficient, and scalable code following current best practices
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams for integrated delivery
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services and databases
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, especially production issues in AWS and OpenShift
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation
- Support production by identifying and resolving certificate and memory management issues
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8-10 years of hands-on Java development experience (Java 8+; Java 21 preferred)
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot 3, Spring Framework, and Microservices Architecture
- Experience with REST APIs, MongoDB, and container-based deployments (Kubernetes)
- Proficient with GitLab and version control systems
- Solid understanding of OOP principles and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Skilled with Cucumber, Karate, or Junit5 for testing
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and resolving production issues in cloud environments (AWS, OpenShift)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Hibernate/JPA and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of Docker and Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems
- Exposure to MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with AI tools for production support
