    Description

    Java Developer (InterSystems Healthcare Integration)

    Java Developers are responsible for the development, programming, and coding of Information Technology solutions. They will engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including gathering and analyzing user/business system requirements, responding to outages, and creating application system models. Developers are responsible for documenting detailed system specifications and will participate in evaluation, performance testing, and all planned and unplanned maintenance for both internally developed applications and purchased products. They participate in design meetings and consult with stakeholders to refine, test, and debug programs to meet business needs, and may interact with or direct third-party partners in the achievement of business and technology initiatives. Developers are responsible for incorporating IT controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the application and data processed or output by the application.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design and documentation protocol, and change management procedures
    • Proficiency using versioning tools: GIT, GNU, RCS, SCCS, CVS, SVN, Mercurial, Monotone, etc.
    • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
    • Flexible team player
    • Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities
    • Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance
    • Must demonstrate initiative and effective independent decision-making skills
    • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and articulately
    • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
    • In-depth understanding of the systems development life cycle
    • Proficiency programming in more than one object-oriented programming language: Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, C++, and PHP
      • Experience with HTML and frameworks such as React.js, Node.js, and Express
      • Experience with SOAP and REST web service development
      • May include exposure to technologies such as Hadoop, Storm, Spark, Kafka, Hive, NiFi, Sqoop, etc.
      • May include database knowledge in SQL, MySQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
    • Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio
    • Proficiency using debugging tools such as Advanced Debugger, Allinea DDT, AQtime, ARM, CA/EZTEST, etc.
    • High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions consistent with business objectives and strategy
    • Ability to manipulate data from various sources/formats such as flat files, relational databases, non-relational databases, XML, JSON, etc.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Domain experience in Health Care, Financial, or similar industries
    • Experience using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodology
    • Specific tools, languages, and specialty skills may vary

    Required Work Experience: 3+ years related work experience; professional experience with technical design and coding in the IT industry

    Required Education: HS Diploma or GED

    Interview Process: Panel interview via MS Teams; final interview in person

    Work Environment: This position offers a hybrid work arrangement combining flexibility with in-office engagement. Team schedules are determined based on role requirements and business needs. Travel to and from corporate or regional offices may be required.

    Candidates will need hands-on InterSystems experience in a healthcare setting. InterSystems is a middleware platform specializing in transactional data as it flows to and from payers, along with cloud-based database management. It handles transformations across file types including CCDA, ADT, and various FHIR transactions. This experience — particularly with InterSystems IRIS for Health — is required, as the organization is transitioning to InterSystems starting Q4 and continuing through end of year 2027.
