Job Title: Java AWS Cloud Engineer

Rate Range: $50 - $53/hour on W2/ C2C (All inclusive)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java AWS Cloud Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. This role is responsible for building robust, secure, and high-performing software solutions that integrate with internal systems and third-party applications using modern cloud technologies, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java, AWS, REST APIs, Microservices, Docker, CI/CD, and distributed systems, along with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions while collaborating with architects, product owners, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Application Design & Development
- Design and develop scalable, resilient, and maintainable cloud-native applications using Java and AWS.
- Translate business and architectural requirements into detailed technical designs and low-level implementation plans.
- Produce technical design documentation, interface specifications, and development estimates.
- Build secure, high-performance enterprise applications following software engineering best practices.
Cloud & Microservices Architecture
- Design and implement cloud-native applications using AWS services.
- Develop microservices and distributed systems using modern architectural patterns.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and service integrations.
- Build asynchronous, event-driven solutions using messaging platforms such as:
- Amazon SQS
- Amazon SNS
- Amazon EventBridge
- Apache Kafka
Containerization & DevOps
- Develop containerized applications using Docker.
- Deploy and manage workloads using AWS container services such as ECS or EKS.
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline development, automation, and release management.
- Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management initiatives.
Performance & Reliability
- Design systems for scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
- Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Implement distributed system best practices including retries, idempotency, monitoring, and observability.
Security & Compliance
- Follow secure coding practices and cloud security standards.
- Implement IAM policies, encryption, secrets management, and least-privilege access controls.
- Ensure applications comply with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, QA teams, and DevOps engineers.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8 12 years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Strong knowledge of Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems.
- Experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Event-Driven Architecture.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as:
- Amazon SQS
- Amazon SNS
- Amazon EventBridge
- Apache Kafka
- Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including:
- Unit Testing
- Code Reviews
- CI/CD Pipelines
- Version Control
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
