Job Summary

The Sales Associate supports daily store operations by providing customer service, maintaining the sales floor, and assisting with merchandise processing and e-commerce tasks. This frontline role helps ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment while following directions from store leadership within a resale retail environment specializing in secondhand merchandise. The position may be Full Time or Part Time, with similar responsibilities across both; Full Time employees may handle additional operational tasks as needed.

Role &Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Front-Counter Support
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately
• Handle phone inquiries and support buying intake and explanations as instructed

Buying & Merchandise Support

• Assist with item sorting and support-level buying-related tasks
• Follow instructions for merchandise handling and classification
• Sort, tag, price, and process merchandise following company procedures
• Handle merchandise carts, boxes, and racks safely and efficiently

Sales Floor & Visual Merchandising Support

• Maintain store cleanliness and presentation standards
• Organize merchandise racks and shelves according to store guidelines
• Assist with floor moves and basic visual merchandising tasks
• Conduct simple inventory counts, restocking, and display upkeep

Backroom & Inventory Support

• Tag merchandise, process inventory transfers, and support product maintenance
• Assist with backroom sorting and stock organization
• Organize incoming merchandise and maintain a safe, orderly backroom
• Prepare merchandise for the sales floor, including steaming, tagging, or packaging
• E-Commerce & Digital Operations
• Support e-commerce operations, including listing assistance, packing, and shipping

Safety & Loss Prevention

• Follow all store safety procedures, including proper lifting, equipment use, and backroom safety rules
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace by promptly addressing spills, tripping hazards, or unsafe conditions
• Follow company policies for security, loss prevention, and handling of suspicious activity

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned based on business needs

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred, but not required
• Positive and professional approach to customer service
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and perform assigned tasks
• Ability to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Basic computer proficiency, including POS system operation
• Commitment to following store procedures and safety guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Japanese language ability preferred but not required

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a retail store environment
• May involve exposure to dust, donated goods, cleaning products, and varying temperatures (e.g., during backroom or receiving tasks)
• Role may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store operational needs
