Janitor/Sanitation

This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations by properly cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining warehouse, equipment, and work areas in a cold environment. Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of warehouse areas, including coolers, docks, production areas, and common spaces.

Job Summary
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the cold storage facility handling fruits and vegetables. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations by properly cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining warehouse, equipment, and work areas in a cold environment.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of warehouse areas, including coolers, docks, production areas, and common spaces.
  
• 
  Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, racks, floors, and food-contact surfaces.
  
• 
  Follow established sanitation schedules, procedures, and food safety protocols.
  
• 
  Properly handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
  
• 
  Remove trash, organic waste, and debris from work areas.
  
• 
  Identify and report sanitation, safety, or maintenance issues to leadership.
  
• 
  Support compliance with FDA, USDA, and company food safety standards (GMPs, SSOPs).
  
• 
  Work in cold storage temperatures while maintaining sanitation efficiency.
  
• 
  Assist with deep-cleaning projects and audits as needed.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• 
  Previous sanitation or janitorial experience in a warehouse, food production, or cold storage environment preferred.
  
• 
  Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and GMP standards is a plus.
  
• 
  Ability to work in cold temperatures for extended periods.
  
• 
  Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  
• 
  Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
  
• 
  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  
• 
  Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  

Work Environment

• 
  Cold storage and refrigerated warehouse environment.
  
• 
  May require use of PPE, including gloves, boots, coats, and safety equipment.
  
• 
  Standing, walking, bending, and repetitive motions required.
