Description
Our client, a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a IWA/IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS) Technical Lead for their Chicago, IL/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:
Product & Platform Knowledge
Maintain expert-level, current knowledge of IWA, including version-specific functionality and upgrade implications.
Maintain a working overview of the business applications hosted on and dependent on the IWA-managed servers, including how scheduling failures translate into business impact.
Batch Scheduling & Job Management:
Own the full lifecycle of TWS/IWA objects: jobs, job streams, dependencies, calendars, and resources.
Direct the creation, configuration, and scheduling of batch jobs, including application-specific job types.
Enforce and maintain folder structure and naming convention standards across the environment.
Maintain and update IWA calendars and event rule configurations.
Maintain and govern the service catalogue(s) for scheduled jobs and workflows.
Environment & Release Management:
Lead job migrations to higher environments using WAT and Composer commands, ensuring alignment between staging and production configurations.
Coordinate and oversee pre- and post-maintenance activities in partnership with the monitoring team, including validation checks before returning environments to production status.
Incident, Problem & Change Management:
Own end-to-end incident and service request management, including RITMs and problem tickets, through resolution and root-cause closure.
Serve as the escalation point for P1/P2 batch incidents, driving troubleshooting and resolution while coordinating directly with application teams on technical fixes.
Ensure escalation matrix and process discipline is followed, including timely executive notification for high-severity incidents.
Manage production job changes through the formal change management process, including authoring and executing change tickets.
Engage IBM support directly to open, manage, and drive resolution of product-related IBM cases.
Track and manage all operational work in JIRA, maintaining accurate status for audit and reporting purposes.
Team Leadership & Business Liaison:
Lead and mentor a technical team of schedulers/administrators, setting technical direction and reviewing their work for quality and standards compliance.
Act as the primary liaison between the technical team and business/client leadership, translating scheduling and batch issues into business-impact terms.
Represent the IWA workstream in client governance forums, status reviews, and escalation calls.
Proactively identify operational risk (e.g., environment misalignment, knowledge concentration in a single resource) and drive mitigation plans before they become incidents.
Additional Information:
Managing the client and providing the technical inputs for the IWA operations and projects related work.
Need to maintain cordial relationship between onsite and offshore teams.
Act as the primary liaison between the technical team and business/client leadership, translating scheduling and batch issues into business-impact terms.
