Cross Country Education is seeking a compassionate Itinerant School Social Worker in Frederick, MD, to support student mental health through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with educators and families across multiple school sites.
Position Overview
- Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges across multiple school sites.
- Conduct social developmental histories, assessments, and evaluations to support special education services and student support planning.
- Collaborate with educators, school psychologists, and multidisciplinary teams during IEP, 504, and student support meetings to promote student success.
- Provide crisis intervention, connect families with school and community resources, and maintain accurate case notes, service records, and required documentation.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
- Active Maryland Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical (LCSW-C) License
- Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) School Social Worker Certification, including qualifying social work licensure (LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-C) and required special education coursework
- School-based experience preferred, particularly supporting students with disabilities and diverse populations, and familiarity with community mental health resources and school-based interventions
