    The Item Data Specialist plays a critical role in supporting ABC Supply's ERP and digital commerce initiatives by sourcing, transforming, validating, and maintaining product and item data, including product attributes, taxonomies, long descriptions, data schemas, and content enhancements. This role collaborates with branch personnel, vendors, and third-party data providers to collect, enrich, and ensure the accuracy of product information required to support ABC Supply's ERP, eCommerce, and other digital platforms.

    The specialist is responsible for ingesting, classifying, organizing, maintaining, and safeguarding data assets within ABC Supply's Master Data Management (MDM) system, Stibo. Through effective data stewardship, the role helps ensure high-quality, consistent, and reliable product information across the organization. The Item Data Specialist works under direct supervision while adhering to established data governance standards, processes, and quality requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and Resolve Branch Requests - Process daily item creation and maintenance requests submitted through the ServiceNow platform. Conduct research on manufacturer and product information, ensuring all requests are completed accurately and within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Data Quality Standards.

    • Collaborate with Branches, Vendors, and Internal Stakeholders - Maintain strong communication with branch personnel to fully understand business needs, provide status updates, and establish clear resolution timelines. Partner with vendors to verify product information and ensure data accuracy, while collaborating with internal departments to develop, improve, and sustain efficient cross-functional processes.

    • Support Growth and Quality of the Item Catalog - Support catalog expansion by onboarding new products, enriching attributes and digital assets to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality product records.

    • Identify, Escalate, and Resolve Data Issues - Proactively identify unclear, incomplete, or conflicting product data and escalate issues as needed. Partner with category stewards, project leads, and supervisors to investigate discrepancies, assist in resolution, and uphold data governance and quality standards.

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

    • Zero to Three years practical experience in content operations, catalog operations, merchandising support, data quality, or a related field
    • Experience with product content, item setup, enrichment, and PIM platforms; experience with bulk update tooling and import/export workflows strongly preferred
    • Intermediate Excel or equivalent data manipulation skills - comfortable cleansing, transforming, deduplicating, and validating datasets of tens of thousands of rows
    • Experience in construction or industrial supply industry strongly preferred
    • Comfort working without an established procedure - able to help define the approach, test it on a sample, and adjust before committing at scale
    • Ability to work independently and be accountable to dates vs individual activities.
    • Ability to work/track efforts across other transactional and/or support services to completion.
    • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail sustained across large, repetitive populations
