We are seeking an experienced IT Technician II to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications, data, voice, wireless, fiber optic, and transport network systems.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with telecommunications systems, digital microwave, fiber optic networks, LANs, voice systems, wireless data communications, PC hardware, alarm systems, and DC power systems. This role will support telecom field operations, project work, site documentation, vendor coordination, and equipment installations.
Support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data and telecommunications transport networks.
Provide project support for telecom field operations.
Install standard, endorsed, or certified off-the-shelf hardware and software devices.
Rack and stack network and telecom equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to:
Personal computers
Peripheral devices
Telecommunications systems
Alarm systems
DC power systems
Voice and data wireless systems
Coordinate with internal business partners, vendors, contractors, and technical groups for installations and issue resolution.
Escort tower crews and external contractors to telecom sites as needed.
Maintain accurate circuit records, equipment inventories, and site documentation.
Follow safe work practices and company procedures.
Manage multiple assignments effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Travel as needed within the Georgia Power service footprint and occasionally beyond.
3–5 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications systems.
Experience with systems such as:
Digital microwave
Fiber optic networks
LANs
Voice systems
Wireless data communications
Understanding of telecom, wireless, data, and voice network topologies and how they interface.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software related to PCs, peripherals, telecom systems, alarms, and DC power systems.
Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, software components, and troubleshooting methods.
Experience troubleshooting voice and data wireless systems.
Experience racking and stacking network or telecom equipment.
Strong personal computer skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Sound judgment, strong organization, and good time-management skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Prior experience supporting utility, telecom, field operations, or infrastructure environments.
Experience working with contractors, tower crews, vendors, and internal technical teams.
Experience maintaining telecom site documentation, circuit records, and equipment inventories.
Familiarity with safe work practices in telecom, utility, or field-based environments.
