IT Technician - Entry Level

FUNCTION

Information Technology (IT) Support and maintenance of IT systems including network/workstation hardware and software. Interface with enterprise-level internet service providers and technologies. Service local and remote users/systems in a Windows-based environment. Provide assistance to the Corporate Systems Administrator and conduct routine maintenance tasks in support of Quality Assurance and Disaster Recovery Tasks.

Assists with the management of security aspects of the information system and performs day-to-day maintenance operations of the system. Provides configuration management for information system software and hardware. Manage changes to system and assess the security impact of those changes. Prepares and reviews documentation to include equipment and network diagrams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
• Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for types of computers and peripheral equipment modifications to existing systems
• Evaluates factors such as reporting formats required, cost constraints, and need for security restrictions to determine hardware configuration
• Configure and install new computers, software and peripherals onto network
• Configure and install new network hardware
• Repair and maintain hardware and software
• Test new software solutions for compatibility with network
• Monitors functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications
• Assist in the evaluation of security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information
• Assist with configuration management for information system security software, hardware, and firmware
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of documentation
• Maintain records on workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, intelligent hubs, network switches, etc. to include system upgrades
• Evaluate solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing sensitive information
• Maintain operational security posture for an information system or program
• Provide configuration management for security-relevant information system software and hardware
• Other duties as assigned

Intermediate knowledge of Windows domain security, Network hardware security, Windows Server OS.

Preferred but not required: Familiarity with administration of NIST requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

At least 1 year of experience in computer repair and networking

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Minimum of an associate's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience and/or trade certification

Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required to acquire a Secret Clearance.
