Position Information

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree of 4 years of equivalent experience.

Position Summary

This position will oversee and be responsible for the overall programmatic Information technology needs for the Savannah River Ecology Lab.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Candidate must have ability to communicate effectively with various levels of SREL employees
  • Candidate must have good decision making skills and consistently do those things which facilitate the operation of SREL.
  • Candidate must be able to effectively support the IT needs of SREL staff.
  • Candiate must be able to utilize a high level of IT related skill sets to meet the technology demands of the Lab.

Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Independently maintain the efficient operation of the SREL computer network to include monitoring connections with campus and outlying buildings. Manage, troubleshoot and repair hardware including switches, routers, and wireless access points.

Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities

Effectively handle employee's software issues by communicating problems and solutions with faculty and staff.

Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities

Evaluate and approve IT hardware purchases, ensuring all requested devices meet compliance and network eligibility standards. Successfully integrate approved devices while mitigating network vulnerabilities. Order and deploy IT hardware as required by SREL employees.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

Independently maintain, troubleshoot and repair conference center hardware, AV equipment and shared printers. Provide direction to one part time employee regarding IT needs and repairs.
