Position Summary
The IT Systems & Field Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and advancing Phoenix Integrated Security's technology infrastructure while providing hands-on field support for security technology deployments throughout Michigan. This position combines systems administration, networking, cloud infrastructure, software implementation, and field operations into a single role.
 The IT Systems & Field Operations Specialist is a highly motivated, self-directed professional who takes ownership of projects, research solutions independently, and follows tasks through from planning to successful completion.
This position includes approximately 50-70% field work, including outdoor job site work, trailer deployments, camera mounting, cable running, equipment troubleshooting, and repairs in various weather conditions This role supports the company's internal technology systems while also installing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mobile surveillance trailers, security cameras, networking equipment, and related technologies in the field.
Education & Experience
  • 5+ years of IT experience with a proven ability to solve problems independently
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, user administration, and general systems management
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar platforms
  • Experience deploying or managing containerized applications using Docker
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including routing, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and remote connectivity troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, or troubleshooting security cameras, access control hardware and systems, or related field equipment
  • Evaluate, implement, and train employees on new software platforms.

Physical Demands
  • Working outdoors and on job sites, including lifting, mounting, wiring, and troubleshooting equipment
  • Field deployment and service work, including hands-on setup, wiring, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of trailer-mounted camera and networking equipment at client sites
  • Ability to travel throughout Michigan as needed.
  • Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
 
The IT Systems & Field Operations Specialist will be responsible for supporting and managing a broad range of technology systems, including:
  • Email and systems administration, including user account management, onboarding and offboarding, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and HubSpot
  • Software evaluation and rollout, including researching, implementing, configuring, and training staff on new platforms
  • Cloud infrastructure, including standing up and managing services in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar environments
  • Containerized applications, including deploying and managing applications using Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus
  • Network infrastructure, including internet connectivity, networking hardware end points, UniFi systems, Peplink and cellular routers, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs, and remote access troubleshooting
  • Security software administration, including endpoint protection, access control systems, Video Management systems, Automation software, and related security tools
  • Camera and security hardware support, including installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Axis, VCC, Lift Master, and similar platforms
  • Software and Hardware integrations
  • Server administration, including both on-premises and cloud-based systems
  • Vendor coordination, including working with ISPs, hardware suppliers, software vendors, and service providers
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain:
    • UniFi networking equipment
    • Peplink and cellular routers
    • VPN connections
    • Firewalls
    • Network switches
    • Wireless infrastructure
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair:
    • Mobile surveillance trailers
    • Security camera systems
    • Access control equipment
    • Video Management Systems
    • Networking hardware
  • Perform field installations including:
    • Camera mounting
    • Cable installation
    • Equipment wiring
    • Hardware replacement
    • Equipment testing
  • Troubleshoot internet connectivity and remote communications.
  • Coordinate with internet service providers and technology vendors.
  • Evaluate, implement, and support new software platforms.
  • Assist with software integrations between internal business systems.
  • Support both on-premises and cloud-based server environments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on surveillance trailers and deployed technology.
  • Respond to technology outages and equipment failures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technology assets and configurations.

Work Environment & Equipment

This position is performed in both office and field environments. Approximately 50–70% of the position involves field work at customer locations throughout Michigan, including active construction sites, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, parking lots, and outdoor job sites. The remaining time is spent in an office environment supporting internal systems, cloud infrastructure, software implementation, and technology planning.
