Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Travel: Up to 75% local travel throughout the Redmond/Seattle area

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking two experienced IT Systems Engineers III (Level 3 IT Support) for contract opportunities in Redmond, WA. These positions provide advanced technical support, systems administration, network troubleshooting, and infrastructure management within a specialized engineering and avionics environment.

The ideal candidates have strong experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity systems. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, independent troubleshooting, and the ability to resolve complex IT issues while supporting infrastructure projects and mentoring junior IT professionals.

Candidates must be comfortable working onsite and traveling to client locations throughout the greater Redmond and Seattle area.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Serve as the Level 3 escalation point for complex hardware, software, networking, and infrastructure issues.
  
• 
  Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, macOS, and Linux environments.
  
• 
  Support virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V.
  
• 
  Troubleshoot enterprise networking components, including VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
  
• 
  Perform system maintenance, patch management, security updates, and infrastructure monitoring.
  
• 
  Support cybersecurity initiatives, access controls, system hardening, and compliance requirements.
  
• 
  Diagnose technical incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  
• 
  Assist with IT infrastructure deployments, upgrades, migrations, and system configurations.
  
• 
  Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
  
• 
  Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  
• 
  Support user account provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, and access management.
  
• 
  Provide technical guidance and escalation support to Level 1 and Level 2 IT staff.
  
• 
  Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  
• 
  Travel to local client sites to provide onsite troubleshooting, installations, and infrastructure support.
  
• 
  Participate in on-call support as needed.
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  
• 
  Minimum 3–5 years of progressive IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering experience.
  
• 
  Demonstrated experience providing Level 3 or Tier 3 technical support.
  
• 
  Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise operating systems.
  
• 
  Experience supporting VMware, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization technologies.
  
• 
  Advanced understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
  
• 
  Experience with cybersecurity best practices, patch management, and system troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
  
• 
  Experience using IT ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
  
• 
  Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  
• 
  Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
  
• 
  Reliable transportation and ability to travel up to 75% throughout the Redmond/Seattle area required.
  
• 
  Ability to work 100% onsite.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  Experience supporting aerospace, defense, avionics, or regulated engineering environments.
  
• 
  Familiarity with NIST 800-171 and ITAR compliance requirements.
  
• 
  Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  
• 
  Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, or Cisco CCNA.
  
• 
  Experience leading infrastructure projects or mentoring junior IT support professionals.
  
• 
  Knowledge of IT asset management, vendor coordination, and disaster recovery processes.
  

Work Environment

• 
  Fully onsite position based in Redmond, WA, with frequent travel to nearby client locations.

  Standard Monday–Friday business hours.

  Work may include office environments, server rooms, data centers, and technical testing facilities.

  Ability to transport equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

  Occasional on-call availability may be required.
