VARITE is looking for a qualified IT Systems Engineer III - Windows Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one of its clients located in Oakland, CA (Hybrid - 1 day onsite per week on Tuesday).

Location: 300 Lakeside Dr., Oakland, CA 94612 - This will be a hybrid requirement, requiring one day onsite Tuesday

Duration: 06 Months (2026-10-05 to 2027-04-04)

Pay Range: $70-72/Hr on W2
 

HERE'S WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Design, administer, and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022/2025).
• Build, test, and maintain Windows Gold Images for enterprise servers and virtual desktop platforms (VDI/Citrix).
• Manage Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), including OSD task sequences, software packaging, and baseline configurations.
• Develop PowerShell automation to streamline OS deployment, patching, compliance reporting, and operational workflows.
• Execute enterprise patch management, security baseline hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
• Administer Active Directory integrations, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, and core networking services.
• Partner with Cloud and Infrastructure teams on OS modernization, migrations, and datacenter transformation projects.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO WIN:

• Experience: 7+ years of hands-on enterprise Windows infrastructure and systems administration experience.

• Core Technical Skills:

  • In-depth expertise in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 administration.
  • Proven track record creating and maintaining Windows Gold Images at scale.
  • Advanced MECM/SCCM administration, specifically Operating System Deployment (OSD) and patch compliance.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), DNS, and DHCP.
• Preferred Skills: Hands-on exposure to Azure/AWS, Terraform, Intune, or Citrix/VDI environments; relevant Microsoft certifications.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
