    Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

    Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

    This position is located in Tifton and is under the direct supervision of the TVDIL director. It serves maintenance and improvement of the local IT systems to match the needs of the Tifton location in line with current minimum standards of the CVM IT. It requires both long-term planning and developing of solutions for the TVDIL and ad-hoc decision making. Close collaboration with the CVM and UGA IT teams is required. Relevant education (bachelor degree) or equivalent (e.g., four years of relevant professional experience) plus two years of relevant professional experience required. Five (5) or more years of professional experience are preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

    • Knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting administrative, instructional, research, and laboratory computers and peripherals.
    • Ability to serve as on-site local administrator and primary point of contact for IT service requests.
    • Ability to collaborate with CVM and UGA IT teams and vendor partners to maintain systems in line with CVM standards.
    • Knowledge of supporting UGA tools such as OneDrive, Office365, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
    • Ability to research, implement, and support software, hardware, networks, servers, and backups while maintaining a positive, client service-centered focus.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Client Service Deskside and Infrastructure Administration and Management

    Serve as the primary on-site IT systems administrator and point of contact for all information technology support requests within the Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL).

    • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, laboratory workstations, servers, email services, and associated software systems
    • Monitor system performance, data integrity, backup operations, and security compliance to ensure adherence to CVM and University System of Georgia minimum security standards.
    • Collaborate with the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) IT team and University of Georgia IT resources to maintain secure and reliable wired and wireless network infrastructure.
    • Administer local server infrastructure, coordinate server maintenance activities, and ensure continuity of critical laboratory and administrative systems.
    • Manage and document support requests through the College Help Desk ticketing system while maintaining a customer-focused service approach.
    • Support and maintain email distribution lists, Microsoft 365 services, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Zoom, and other enterprise collaboration platforms.
    • Coordinate with equipment vendors and service providers to support laboratory systems, troubleshoot technical issues, manage support contracts, and facilitate hardware and software upgrades.

    Project Management and Process Improvement Leadership

    • Provide end-user training and guidance on information security, technology best practices, and the effective use of institutional technology resources.
    • Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement hardware, software, networking, and laboratory technology solutions that improve organizational efficiency and support business objectives.
    • Lead and manage local IT projects, including technology assessments, implementation planning, vendor coordination, deployment, user adoption, and change management activities.
    • Support and champion adoption of enterprise technologies and strategic initiatives while providing local leadership for system-wide application rollouts.
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of temporary student assistants assigned to IT operations when applicable.
