IT Support Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay: Up to $35/hour D.O.E.
Duration: 3-month contract with potential for conversion to a permanent position
Work Arrangement: Onsite
We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide hands-on technical support to employees across multiple locations in the San Diego area. This position will support end-user hardware, software, Microsoft 365 services, user accounts, mobile devices, printers, connectivity, and other technologies used in daily business operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong desktop support and customer service experience, along with solid knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
Responsibilities
Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for hardware, software, Microsoft 365, connectivity, phones, printers, and other end-user technology
Respond to, document, prioritize, and resolve IT service tickets
Install, image, configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals
Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, password resets, MFA, mailbox access, group memberships, and device preparation
Assist with Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, endpoint management, device compliance, software installation, patching, and security-related tasks
Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity, VPN access, printers, phones, and other endpoint issues
Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and software licensing records
Assist with cybersecurity best practices, phishing awareness, device security checks, and escalation of suspected incidents
Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Support equipment refreshes, office moves, software deployments, system migrations, and other IT initiatives
Qualifications
2+ years of experience providing end-user technical support in a help desk, desktop support, field support, or similar IT environment
Experience supporting Windows laptops and desktops
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
Experience with user account and access support, including password resets and MFA
Familiarity with Azure/Entra ID and endpoint/device management
Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting skills
Experience working with ticketing systems and maintaining clear technical documentation
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an IT team
High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications
CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar certifications
Experience with Power Automate or Microsoft Copilot
Familiarity with cybersecurity, backup/disaster recovery, and IT asset management
This role requires reliable transportation for occasional travel between locations throughout San Diego County. Candidates should also be comfortable periodically moving or lifting IT equipment up to 50 pounds.
