Job Description
We are seeking a Lab Computing Analyst to provide technical IT support within a laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Windows-based systems, laboratory computing environments, scientific instrumentation, instrument-controlled software, networking, and desktop hardware.
This role will work closely with laboratory users, instrument vendors, and infrastructure teams to maintain reliable and compliant lab IT environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and provide technical support for laboratory IT environments integrated with scientific instrumentation.
- Configure and support Windows-based computers, operating systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, and applications.
- Support instrument-controlled software and troubleshoot instrument-related computer issues.
- Perform computer imaging, system upgrades, software installations, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Manage equipment onboarding, relocation, retirement, and inventory.
- Administer Windows security, including user/group permissions, file/folder permissions, Group Policy, and local security policies.
- Troubleshoot networking and connectivity issues involving laboratory systems and instrumentation.
- Act as the primary technical support contact for instrument vendors.
- Partner with client infrastructure teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Support system validation, change management, upgrades, and implementation activities.
- Maintain accurate physical inventory of laboratory equipment, PCs, software, and related assets.
- Ensure laboratory systems comply with applicable corporate IT, security, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical support for software and hardware-related inquiries.
- Prepare weekly engineering/service reports and participate in client meetings.
- Support laboratory and enterprise IT initiatives as required.
- Maintain required training and compliance related to health, safety, security, environmental, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of technical experience, OR
- Associate's degree with 3+ years of technical experience, OR
- High school diploma/equivalent with 5+ years of technical experience.
- Strong experience with Windows operating systems and desktop support.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects within established timelines.
- Comfortable working in a laboratory/controlled environment and following PPE and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting scientific/laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience in a Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Laboratory environment.
- Experience with GxP, FDA, ISO, or other regulated environments.
- Experience working in a validated/computerized systems environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, networking, remote computing, backup systems, and Windows security.
- Experience with system validation, change control, and compliance documentation.
- Experience working directly with instrument vendors and laboratory users.
