Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer 5. The work will be done hybrid in either Peoria, IL or Chicago, IL, with a requirement to work onsite two days per week. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $110/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking an experienced IT Software Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise-level software applications and cloud-based solutions. This role will work within an Agile Scrum environment and contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performing applications utilizing modern cloud technologies and software engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications and cloud-based solutions
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and demos
• Develop and maintain scalable Java applications utilizing modern architectural patterns such as Microservices, MVC, and event-driven architectures
• Implement and support cloud infrastructure and deployments using AWS services and CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate with development teams, stakeholders, and business partners to troubleshoot issues, improve system performance, and deliver high-quality software solutions
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of software development experience (or 8+ years with a Master’s degree)
• 8+ years of experience designing and developing applications using Java
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with AWS technologies including CloudFormation, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, S3, IAM, and related cloud services
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, RESTful API development, CI/CD tools, and Agile development methodologies
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data structures, algorithms, and cloud-native application development
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with AWS services such as SQS, SNS, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, MySQL, and Oracle
• Experience with testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Swagger, Postman, and Assertible
• Experience leading technical designs and mentoring development teams
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure management
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
