IT Security Operations Manager

Salary: $90,000–$100,000/year; Based on experience
Location: Glens Falls, NY (On-site)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Experience: 6+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field required
Leadership: 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
Skills: Experience managing enterprise security tools including SIEM/SOAR, EDR/XDR, vulnerability scanning, and incident response required

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Security Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its cybersecurity program in the Glens Falls, NY area.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with security operations, enterprise security tools, cybersecurity frameworks, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance, along with the ability to lead and develop a security operations team.

Responsibilities of the IT Security Operations Manager will include:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations team and develop security operations policies and procedures.
  • Provide management, coaching, training, and support to security team members.
  • Oversee security monitoring, alert management, and event response activities.
  • Manage enterprise security technologies including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and email security platforms.
  • Oversee vulnerability management activities, including scanning, risk assessment, remediation tracking, and reporting.
  • Coordinate investigations of cybersecurity incidents and ensure timely containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Conduct threat hunting and collaborate with threat intelligence providers to identify emerging risks.
  • Manage and monitor Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions to identify and mitigate potential unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable cybersecurity frameworks and regulations, including NIST, CIS Controls, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOX.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, cloud, and network teams to implement security best practices.
  • Participate in security awareness initiatives and organizational cybersecurity planning.
  • Develop security metrics, dashboards, and executive reports to communicate operational performance and risk.
  • Partner with internal leadership, technical teams, and vendors on cybersecurity initiatives and priorities.

Qualifications for the role of IT Security Operations Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 6+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Security Operations Center (SOC) management.
  • Experience managing enterprise security tools including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and email security platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
  • Working proficiency with Windows, Linux, Active Directory, Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, and cloud security.
  • Strong incident response, vulnerability management, and threat analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with management, technical teams, and vendors.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams.
