Location: IT Field Specialist
Department: DEPADM
The Opportunity
The Field Technology Specialist is an IT professional responsible for coordinating and executing the mobilization, deployment, support, and lifecycle management of IT equipment and infrastructure across construction site locations. Based in the DFW office and traveling extensively to active and new project sites, this role ensures construction teams have reliable, properly configured technology from site startup through ongoing operations. The position serves as the primary liaison among the internal IT Help Desk team, construction stakeholders, local contractors, equipment providers, and other vendors, while managing field technology assets, vendor relationships, service contracts, issue resolution, and status communication.
What you will do?
Site Mobilization & Technology Readiness
• Lead the mobilization and demobilization of IT equipment and technology services for new, active, and closing construction sites.
• Assess site technology requirements and coordinate the setup, configuration, testing, and readiness of computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, connectivity solutions, phones, conference room technology, and related accessories.
• Travel to construction sites to complete installations, resolve escalated issues, verify infrastructure readiness, and provide hands-on technical support when remote or local support is not sufficient.
• Develop and maintain site technology checklists, equipment standards, support documentation, and repeatable mobilization procedures.
Field Technology Support & Issue Resolution
• Serve as the primary field services point of contact for construction teams, providing timely status updates, communicating risks or delays, and coordinating solutions with internal IT resources and external partners.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, connectivity, peripheral, access, and end-user technology issues across field locations.
• Partner with network, infrastructure, security, applications, and Help Desk teams to diagnose issues, implement standards, and escalate problems requiring specialized support.
• When not traveling, work from the DFW office as part of the Help Desk team, supporting users, handling escalated service requests, assisting with equipment preparation, and contributing to broader IT support priorities.
Asset, Vendor & Contract Management
• Maintain accountability for IT assets assigned to construction sites, including deployment records, inventory accuracy, transfers, replacements, returns, secure storage, and disposition coordination.
• Engage and coordinate qualified local contractors and vendors when on-site support is required, providing clear scopes of work, scheduling services, monitoring progress, and validating completion.
• Manage vendor relationships and support IT equipment and service contracts, including obtaining quotes, coordinating purchases or rentals, monitoring service delivery, reviewing invoices, and addressing performance concerns.
• Maintain vendor contacts, service records, asset documentation, and contract-related information needed to support field operations.
Operational Improvement & Leadership
• Identify recurring field technology issues and recommend improvements to equipment standards, deployment practices, vendor coverage, support processes, and construction site readiness.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and functional leadership for field technology activities and help establish a scalable field services capability that may support future team growth.
• Coordinate priorities across multiple construction site locations while maintaining clear communication, timely follow-through, and alignment with broader IT support objectives.
• Perform other duties and technology initiatives as assigned.
