Job Title: IT Desktop Support Technician
Location: Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 (Onsite)
Duration: 6 months
 
JOB SUMMARY
The IT Desktop Support Technician  provides advanced hands-on technical support for onsite and remote employees, with responsibility for desktop/laptop deployments, IT asset management, onboarding/offboarding, troubleshooting, and operational support. The role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable IT services while delivering excellent customer service and contributing to IT projects and process improvements.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop training materials, technical procedures, and user documentation; train employees on hardware and software.
  • Prepare and configure computers and equipment for new and existing employees, including operating systems, software, peripherals, and cabling.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and perform minor repairs on desktop and laptop hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Own and support employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including equipment provisioning, account/access coordination, and asset recovery.
  • Troubleshoot Windows and macOS operating systems, applications, hardware, peripherals, and connectivity issues.
  • Diagnose technical problems using user interviews, technical documentation, system diagnostics, and established troubleshooting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of tickets, incidents, installations, repairs, assets, and corrective actions.
  • Escalate major hardware/software issues and defective products to appropriate vendors or technical resources.
  • Provide regular status updates regarding tickets, open issues, projects, and operational activities.
  • Make recommendations regarding hardware, software, and technology solutions based on organizational needs.
  • Support ongoing IT projects, system improvements, and initiatives related to stability, security, and scalability.
  • Manage priorities and workload independently while maintaining a high level of customer service.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of related desktop/IT support experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, macOS, and enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365/Office 365.
  • Strong desktop and laptop deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of hardware, operating systems, software applications, peripherals, and basic networking concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and installation specifications.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation and ticket-management practices.
  • Ability to support both onsite and remote employees in a fast-paced environment.
 
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Experience with enterprise endpoint management and software deployment tools.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 administration and enterprise identity environments.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, endpoint security, and access management.
  • Experience creating IT training materials, knowledge-base articles, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience coordinating with hardware/software vendors and third-party technical support.
  • Experience participating in IT infrastructure, endpoint, security, or process-improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management and ticketing workflows.
  • Ability to identify recurring technical issues and recommend scalable operational improvements.
