Senior IT Project Manager (Healthcare Payer) - Remote

Duration: Approximately 12 Months

Job Type: Contract

Location: Remote

Pay Range: $60- 64 per hour

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead large-scale healthcare payer technology initiatives. This individual will oversee multiple concurrent projects and work streams, ensuring successful delivery through strong leadership, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and project governance.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background managing healthcare payer system projects and will be comfortable working with both business and technical teams to drive enterprise-wide initiatives from planning through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day execution and delivery of complex IT projects.
• Manage multiple work streams, project dependencies, risks, issues, and deliverables.
• Maintain and oversee multi-year cross-program project schedules.
• Collaborate with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and develop business requirements documentation.
• Define project scope, schedule, resource plans, budgets, and communication strategies.
• Monitor project milestones and ensure adherence to delivery standards.
• Coordinate change management activities and deployment readiness.
• Support issue escalation, defect management, and risk mitigation efforts.
• Facilitate architecture discussions, solution design reviews, and quality assurance activities.
• Provide executive-level project status reporting and leadership updates.
• Drive successful delivery through close coordination with business and IT leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience managing healthcare payer technology projects.

• Experience with healthcare payer processing systems, including:

• Claims

• Membership

• Eligibility

• Related payer platforms

• Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent IT project work streams.

• Experience managing project financials, schedules, resources, and risks.

• Strong facilitation skills for requirements gathering and stakeholder meetings.

• Experience partnering with business leaders and technical teams to drive project success.

• Ability to translate complex technical and operational details into clear executive-level updates.

• Experience supporting IT architecture and solution design efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of related project management experience.
• Experience providing strategic technical consulting to senior IT leadership.
• Experience evaluating technology standards, emerging technologies, and best practices.
• Master's degree in a related field preferred.
