Job Title: IT Database Administrator III Location: Remote - Candidates local to Client, NY or Charlotte, NC preferred, however, candidates in all US locations will be considered. Candidates must be willing to support EST. Duration: 12 months, possibility of extension or conversion Schedule: Full-time, M-F, 8am-5pm Job Description: Product / Purpose of Position Leverage technical acumen to provide superior engineering and production support for global Oracle database environments. Drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability and maximize database performance. Partner with application owners/teams to understand application, business needs, and SLOs. Roles and Responsibilities Primary focus on production support for database environments working with 24x7 support staff. Database administration including installation, configuration, management, patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery. Participate in Change Advisory Board activities and provide governance on database changes. Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis and outlining resolution options. Automate infrastructure components using scripting/coding tools such as PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM, or others. Perform database refresh activities as per customer needs. Database/SQL monitoring and performance tuning. Use database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to the database portfolio. Provide off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues and participate in the team’s on-call support rotation. Maintain technical knowledge of current and emerging multi-cloud developments and industry trends and collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate them into current and future strategies. Work with third-party support teams (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams to educate and guide them in supporting database infrastructure technologies. Education Requirements BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Work Experience 7+ years of experience working in IT as an Oracle Database Administrator. Required Skills Experience playing pivotal roles as Database Administrator and support staff across various database technologies. Knowledge of Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Linux scripting, etc. Database/SQL monitoring and performance tuning. Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems. Effective leadership, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to handle changing priorities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Demonstrated track record of on-time delivery within budget and ability to drive projects to successful conclusions using influencing skills. Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives spanning various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures. Desired Skills Experience working in the manufacturing industry (or similar) with understanding of data security requirements such as ITAR, PCI, PHI, HIPAA, NIST, SOX, etc. preferred. Experience working with SAP. Very good English language skills (verbal and written). Achievement-oriented with creative thinking and enthusiasm. Open-minded with strong communication skills. Very good presentation skills. Strong organizational skills. Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly. Travel Up to 10% travel required (approximately one time per year for 2 days).
