IT Data Analyst - NetApp

Data Governance & Access Analyst

We are looking for a highly independent, hands-on analyst to support a large-scale data cleanup and access-governance initiative across SharePoint, network drives, shared folders, and other enterprise file repositories.

This is not a traditional reporting-focused Data Analyst role. The work is centered on understanding what data exists, who owns it, who should have access, what should be retained or removed, and how the information should be properly structured and secured.

The analyst will work directly with business owners, records-management partners, security teams, and engineers to help move a large volume of files and folders through cleanup, access remediation, and migration readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large, messy datasets related to files, folders, ownership, permissions, and retention.
• Identify and validate business and data owners.
• Review folder structures, access lists, and permissions.
• Help determine what data should be retained, archived, reassigned, consolidated, migrated, or deleted.
• Write PowerShell scripts to support data extraction, cleanup, validation, and remediation.
• Work extensively with SharePoint and shared-drive environments.
• Partner with stakeholders to document access requirements and establish appropriate RBAC structures.
• Support folder restructuring and migration-readiness efforts.
• Track progress across a large number of directories and stakeholders.
• Independently drive follow-up and keep the work moving with limited oversight.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, business systems analysis, data governance, or access management.
• Strong data manipulation and analysis skills.
• Hands-on PowerShell scripting experience.
• Strong SharePoint experience.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with RBAC, permissions analysis, access groups, and least-privilege concepts.
• Working knowledge of IAM/access-governance concepts.
• Experience identifying data ownership and resolving access or permission issues.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Highly self-directed and comfortable working through ambiguity.

Preferred

Experience with records management, Varonis, network-drive remediation, IAM/PAM tools, audit remediation, financial services, or NetApp is a plus.
