Duties include designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining communications hardware and software used in various fixed wireless communications networks, including P25 communications systems; installing, maintaining and repairing 12-volt mobile communications equipment, including radios, MDT computers, chargers, lights and sirens, alarms, antennas and related equipment; providing technical assistance and support to communications system users; performing routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance of communications equipment; maintaining accurate equipment, maintenance and operational records; and responding to communications system outages and other emergency situations as needed. Systems supported may include microwave, base station, multiplexing, fiber, alarm and other related communications equipment. An Associate degree or equivalent in a related field and three years of job-related experience required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems required. Familiarity with radio programming software and communications test equipment and an FCC license preferred. Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Texas driver's license. Must be able to provide expedient on-call support for emergencies during evening and weekend hours. All applicants will be subject to a criminal history check. A conviction for Class B misdemeanor and above is disqualifying.
