Position Overview:
  • Seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain its Microsoft technology environment, infrastructure, security initiatives, and business-critical applications.
  • This is a hands-on, mid-level IT role with a strong emphasis on Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, Azure, and hybrid infrastructure administration.
  • The ideal consultant will have practical experience managing Microsoft environments, particularly hybrid Exchange, and be comfortable troubleshooting systems, supporting end users, and managing day-to-day infrastructure operations.
  • A key priority for this position is helping complete an ongoing Cisco Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and YubiKey implementation project, including integration with Active Directory and Azure / Entra ID.
  • The position will also provide front-end application support for the public safety dispatch systems (RIMS), including troubleshooting client consoles and application-related issues.
  • Public safety or RIMS experience is preferred but is not required.
  • The ideal consultant is a proactive, service-oriented IT professional who can independently manage technical responsibilities, take ownership of projects, and work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities:
  • Microsoft 365 & Exchange Administration:
    • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot the organization's Microsoft 365 environment.
    • Support and manage hybrid Exchange environments, including day-to-day Exchange administration and troubleshooting.
    • Maintain and support Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 services.
    • Manage user accounts, permissions, access, and configurations.
    • Support integration between on-premises Active Directory and Azure / Entra ID.
    • Assist with ongoing systems administration and ensure continuity of Microsoft services.
  • Active Directory, Azure & Infrastructure Support:
    • Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory and Azure / Entra ID environments.
    • Support hybrid identity management, authentication, and directory synchronization.
    • Troubleshoot infrastructure, access, connectivity, and system-related issues.
    • Provide day-to-day systems administration and technical support across the organization's IT environment.
  • Cybersecurity & MFA Implementation:
    • Assist with the implementation and deployment of Cisco Duo MFA.
    • Configure and support YubiKey hardware authentication.
    • Integrate MFA solutions with Active Directory and Azure / Entra ID.
    • Troubleshoot authentication and integration issues.
    • Support testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing administration of security solutions.
  • Application & Public Safety Systems Support:
    • Provide front-end support for RIMS / Sunridge public safety applications and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
    • Troubleshoot dispatch console crashes, client application issues, and middleware-related problems.
    • Assist with application server troubleshooting and issue resolution.
    • Coordinate with third-party vendors for escalated application or database issues.
    • Work with existing vendor support resources for back-end SQL database concerns; deep SQL database administration is not a primary responsibility.
  • General IT Support & Collaboration:
    • Troubleshoot hardware, software, systems, and application issues.
    • Provide responsive, professional technical support to employees across the organization.
    • Collaborate with internal IT staff, vendors, and other departments.
    • Take ownership of technical issues and follow them through resolution.
    • Assist with infrastructure projects, security initiatives, and process improvements.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, infrastructure support, or a related IT role.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and Azure environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, particularly Exchange.
  • Practical experience supporting hybrid Exchange environments.
  • Experience administering on-premises Active Directory integrated with Azure / Entra ID.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Microsoft systems, identity management, and end-user applications.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and manage day-to-day technical issues.
  • Be proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working independently.
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate a professional, service-first approach when supporting employees.
  • Take ownership of technical issues rather than relying solely on vendor escalation.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and organizational needs.
  • Balance daily systems administration responsibilities with ongoing project work.
  • Be comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience implementing or administering Cisco Duo MFA.
  • Experience configuring and deploying YubiKey hardware authentication.
  • Experience with MFA implementation and identity security solutions, including comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

  • Exposure to AI implementation or integration initiatives.
  • Public safety, RIMS, Cisco Duo, and YubiKey experience.
  • Consultants with strong Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, Azure, and comparable MFA implementation experience are encouraged to apply.
