Position Title: IT Analyst - Desktop Governance & Compliance

Location: Vienna, VA / Pensacola, FL (Hybrid)

Pay Rate: $30 - $40 per hour

Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced IT Analyst - Desktop Governance & Compliance to support governance, risk, and compliance initiatives within a large-scale enterprise desktop environment. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in desktop infrastructure, privileged access management (PAM), IT governance, audit readiness, compliance reporting, risk remediation, and access governance.

As a key member of the Desktop Governance & Compliance team, you will help strengthen security controls, support audit and regulatory compliance, validate privileged access, and drive process improvements that enhance operational efficiency across the end-user computing environment. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional IT, security, and business teams while contributing to enterprise-wide governance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support enterprise access governance activities, including privileged access reviews, entitlement validation, user access recertification, exception tracking, evidence collection, audit readiness, and remediation efforts.
  • Review elevated access requests to ensure alignment with business requirements, security policies, risk standards, and compliance obligations.
  • Analyze desktop infrastructure and access control processes to recommend governance improvements and strengthen preventive controls.
  • Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, governance reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational documentation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced reporting techniques, to analyze data, validate controls, and support risk-based decision-making.
  • Support internal and external audits through evidence management, documentation, control validation, and remediation tracking.
  • Participate in IT projects and process improvement initiatives by assisting with planning, implementation, tracking, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent governance practices.
  • Communicate technical concepts, findings, recommendations, and project updates effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support governance and compliance objectives.

Required Skills/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of IT experience supporting desktop infrastructure, IT governance, privileged access management, access governance, compliance, audit support, or risk management.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
  • Elevated workstation access administration
  • User entitlement management
  • Access recertification processes
  • Audit support and evidence management
  • Risk remediation and control validation
  • Experience working with ServiceNow, MyIT, or comparable IT service management platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Experience creating governance reports, dashboards, compliance metrics, and operational documentation.
  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks, security controls, compliance standards, and audit processes.
  • Experience supporting Agile and/or SDLC project environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated professional capable of working independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Experience supporting enterprise desktop governance or end-user computing environments.
  • Exposure to IT risk management, cybersecurity governance, or enterprise compliance programs.
  • Experience identifying automation opportunities to improve governance processes and reduce manual effort.
