Job description:
Telvero is hiring an ISP / Data Center Low Voltage Installation Technician on behalf of our client for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity.
This position is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, labeling, and organization of structured cabling infrastructure within data center and ISP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and secure cable pathways, including basket tray, ladder rack, and fiber runner systems.
- Assemble, mount, level, and anchor server racks and network enclosures.
- Install and properly ground racks, ladders, and containment systems.
- Pull and route Cat6A copper, single-mode fiber, and multi-mode fiber cabling.
- Terminate copper jacks, patch panels, 110-blocks, and fiber optic connections, including LC, SC, and MPO/MTP.
- Dress, bundle, and organize cabling within racks and network spaces.
- Test and certify copper and fiber installations using equipment such as Fluke DSX-8000, OTDR, and optical power meters.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and attenuation issues.
- Label cables, faceplates, patch panels, and ports according to project standards.
- Assist with rack-and-stack installation of patch panels, network switches, and related hardware.
- Maintain accurate installation and cable-management records.
- Follow project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of commercial low-voltage installation, structured cabling, telecommunications, or related field experience.
- Data center, ISP central office, or commercial construction experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling practices and ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 color codes.
- Experience using low-voltage installation tools, including punch-down tools, wire strippers, RJ45 crimpers, fiber cleavers, and standard power tools.
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and scissor lifts.
- Ability to distinguish cable and fiber colors accurately.
- Ability to follow OSHA, PPE, and site-specific safety requirements.
Education & Preferred Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational or technical training in telecommunications, low voltage, or a related field is a plus.
- BICSI Installer 1 or Installer 2 preferred.
- OSHA 10 Construction Certification preferred.
- Scissor Lift and/or Boom Lift Certification preferred.
