The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Isaac Program Director within the Office of Science.

DEFINITION: The ISAAC Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ISAAC Program at the Students 2 Science STEM learning facility. The Director is also responsible for ensuring alignment with the mission and goals of Students 2 Science (S2S). This is a non-instructional position focused on STEM program operations and delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Master's degree or Ph. D in a STEM related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

  2. Five (5) or more years of prior experience in a STEM profession.

  3. Three (3) to five (5) years of teaching and/or curriculum development is preferred.

  4. Must be able to read, write and understand English.

  5. Experience managing laboratory-based educational programs or research facilities is preferred.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Newark, ISAAC Program Director is responsible for program alignment with New Jersey Student Learning standards as well as ongoing content development, staffing, training, program evaluation, program implementation, professional development and collaborative planning with other departments including:

  1. Ensure ISAAC laboratory experiences align with current and emerging STEM career pathways and reflect the needs of regional industry partners.

  2. Ensure ISAAC program development aligns with the strategic goals and objectives of Students 2 Science.

  3. Ensure the Newark Technology Center laboratories operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established laboratory safety practices.

  4. Maintain laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and supplies necessary to support ISAAC programming.

  5. Develop and manage the annual ISAAC program schedule.

  6. Coordinate scheduling for staff, interns, and volunteers supporting program delivery.

  7. Recruit, hire, and onboard laboratory instructors, assistants, interns, and volunteers.

  8. Train staff in laboratory instrumentation operation and maintenance.

  9. Manage the ISAAC program operating budget for the Newark Technology Center.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY, EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION

  1. Salary: $110,000-$160,000

  2. Employment Period: Twelve (12) Months

  3. Union Affiliation: Unaffiliated
