Summary:The IS Application Manager supervises an assigned team in the development and maintenance of specific applications or functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise application development.
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams or equivalent technical leadership experience.
Top Skills:
- Strong technical background in Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise application development.
- Strong understanding of React, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, microservices, and full-stack development.
- Experience designing and implementing open-system and distributed application architectures.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex software development, application modernization, or technology transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, security, and cloud technologies.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and modern software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, mentoring, and managing software engineering professionals.
- Strong project planning, prioritization, organizational, and resource-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, business partners, and executive leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical and business decisions.
- Ability to balance technical depth, people leadership, delivery commitments, and business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple engineering teams or large-scale technology initiatives.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and cloud-native application development.
- Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design, distributed systems, and API architecture.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application platforms.
- Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps technologies such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Spring Cloud, Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT, and API Gateway technologies.
- Experience with modern front-end technologies including React, TypeScript, Redux, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience with NoSQL and caching technologies such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, Google Cloud Bigtable and Redis.
- Proven experience leading legacy application modernization and migration to Java-based open-system platforms.
- Experience transforming monolithic applications into microservices and API-driven architectures.
- Experience with application performance management and observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience managing technology teams within financial services, banking, insurance, or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience establishing and managing engineering KPIs, quality metrics, delivery metrics, and operational SLAs.
- Experience managing technology budgets, vendor relationships, and third-party development partners.
- Demonstrated ability to influence enterprise technology strategy and drive change across organizational boundaries.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, resiliency, disaster recovery, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience implementing AI/GenAI capabilities or AI-assisted software engineering practices.
