JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Irwin Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Irwin Center Custodian will perform skilled and semi-skilled work pertaining to the upkeep of the facility. The H-F Park Districts mission statement is "to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment".
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Secure and lock all windows, doors at the close of each shift.
- Report any safety concerns to supervisor.
- Cleaning the interior and exterior areas of the facility.
- Operation of equipment and hand tools, common power tools.
- Maintain/Repair all furnishings and equipment.
- Set up facility spaces for programs, rentals and events.
- Assist with building/maintenance project.
- Address emergency problems, leaks, broken equipment, etc.
- Perform housekeeping tasks as needed or as directed by Supervisor.
- Report to supervisor any safety concerns noticed in and around the facility.
- Follows all policy and safety rules.
- Inspect facility to identify repairs and maintenance items that need attention.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual with ability to recognize safety hazards.
- Other job related duties as assigned.

- Enjoys working with and serving the public with a customer service focus.
- Be a self-starter.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some experience in a maintenance related field.
- Ability to follow through on a task without immediate supervision.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Janitorial or cleaning experience.
- Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 60 days of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
