    JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Irwin Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Irwin Center Custodian will perform skilled and semi-skilled work pertaining to the upkeep of the facility.     ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
    • Secure and lock all windows, doors at the close of each shift.
    • Report any safety concerns to supervisor.
    • Cleaning the interior and exterior areas of the facility.
    • Operation of equipment and hand tools, common power tools.
    • Maintain/Repair all furnishings and equipment.
    • Set up facility spaces for programs, rentals and events.
    • Assist with building/maintenance project.
    • Address emergency problems, leaks, broken equipment, etc.
    • Perform housekeeping tasks as needed or as directed by Supervisor.
    • Report to supervisor any safety concerns noticed in and around the facility.
    • Follows all policy and safety rules.
    • Inspect facility to identify repairs and maintenance items that need attention.
    • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual with ability to recognize safety hazards.
    • Other job related duties as assigned.

    COGNITIVE SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Enjoys working with and serving the public with a customer service focus.
    • Be a self-starter.

    JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Some experience in a maintenance related field.
    • Ability to follow through on a task without immediate supervision.
    • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently.
    • Ability to operate assigned equipment.

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

    • Janitorial or cleaning experience.
    • Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 60 days of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

    OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Hours can vary based on schedules.
    • Hours primarily evenings and weekends.

    • WALKING: Extensive around facility
    • LIFTING: Minimum: up to 50 lbs. / 75 lbs. with assistance
    • STOOPING: Occasionally
    • REACHING: Frequent
    • CLIMBING: 20 foot ladders, stairs
    • VERBAL: Proficient to communicate needs and understand directives
    • VISION: Able to read small print
