Irrigation Manager

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually, based on experience

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Irrigation Manager to lead and oversee irrigation operations serving the Longs, SC and Wilmington, NC markets.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing irrigation technicians, overseeing projects, developing estimates and proposals, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring irrigation work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial irrigation experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage both the operational and financial sides of an irrigation division. This position requires regular travel between Longs and Wilmington to support crews, clients, and active job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, train, and develop irrigation technicians
- Ensure technicians are properly trained before performing work independently
- Schedule and assign irrigation projects and service work
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and job site deliveries
- Conduct regular job site inspections to monitor quality, productivity, and safety
- Meet with existing and prospective clients to evaluate irrigation needs
- Prepare take-offs, proposals, bids, cost estimates, and project scopes
- Communicate with clients, property managers, HOA representatives, developers, facility managers, and job site personnel
- Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships
- Address customer concerns and resolve service issues professionally and promptly
- Develop budgets and financial forecasts for irrigation operations
- Monitor project costs, production, profitability, and overall division performance
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market presence
- Collaborate with operations and branch leadership to ensure projects are completed successfully
- Order materials and coordinate equipment needed for upcoming projects
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, materials, repairs, and project progress
Irrigation Technical Responsibilities
- Inspect irrigation systems and run controller zones to verify proper operation and coverage
- Adjust sprinkler heads and nozzles to improve water distribution
- Identify and locate leaks in mainline and lateral piping
- Diagnose and repair irrigation valves, solenoids, wiring, and electrical connections
- Troubleshoot conventional and 2-wire irrigation systems
- Diagnose controller programming, communication, and sensor issues
- Complete or oversee PVC mainline and lateral line repairs
- Perform and oversee valve repairs and replacements
- Recommend appropriate repairs, upgrades, and system improvements
- Ensure all irrigation work meets company quality and safety expectations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in irrigation management, irrigation operations, or a similar leadership role
- Strong commercial irrigation experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, valves, piping, electrical troubleshooting, and water distribution
- Experience with conventional and 2-wire irrigation systems
- Experience preparing estimates, bids, proposals, and project take-offs
- Previous experience supervising and developing field crews
- Strong understanding of commercial landscaping operations
- Knowledge of plant and turf types is preferred
- Strong customer service, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple crews, projects, and priorities simultaneously
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and other business software
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Longs, SC and Wilmington, NC
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
- Associate degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Irrigation or other industry-related certifications are a plus
